CHILDRENS HEALTH

Why Potatoes ?

Potatoes are packed full of lots of important vitamins and minerals.

There are many reasons why children should choose to eat potatoes:

Potatoes form part of healthy schools meals as a starchy food. Potatoes are a great low fat energy source for growing children, provide fibre, vitamin C and folate, as well as being low in sodium (salt). They are versatile enough to be enjoyed in the diet in many ways and compliment lots of different foods.

Here are some other tips:

Eat a potato with its skin - but pare away any green areas, trim visible blemishes and gouge out any sprouts. A potato's skin contains most of its iron, calcium and fiber. Ounce for ounce, the skin is the most nutritous part!.
